Aszani sees herself as a bridge between cultures. She is the founder of the Madison Birth Center, and has practiced in hospital, birth center and home settings. Aszani enjoys bridging the perspectives between these care environments, where many areas of commonality exist. She is deeply commiteed to woman-centered care, and is protective of the right of all women to determine how their needs are best served during the maternity care cycle.
Aszani is an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), with special expertise in milk supply issues. She uses the midwifery model to bridge primary care and lactation. Aszani is honored to be part of the excellent lactation team at Park Nicollet and Methodist Hospital. She works closely with the Methodist Breastfeeding Center Lactation Consultants, Methodist Hospital nurses, and other providers to optimize breastfeeding outcomes.
Aszani utilizes a holistic approach. She offers expertise in nutrition, stress management, and integrative medicine to her clients. She is skilled in the use of lifestyle changes, herbs and homeopathy for menopausal symptoms in women who want to avoid hormones. She can also prescribe bio-identical and allopathic hormones for women who desire these therapies.
