My Areas of Practice

Thanks for taking the time to review my bio. I have two main areas of interest within general surgery. The first is the use of minimally invasive surgery to treat common surgical problems and the second is the treatment of morbid obesity. These two areas are actually very complimentary. Helping patients beat morbid obesity means that I am well versed in the most current surgical techniques and that I can apply those techniques even in very difficult circumstances.

I would love to have the chance to work with you and help solve your surgical problems. I prefer to use minimally invasive techniques to treat hernias, gallbladders, bowel diseases, abdominal pain, reflux and other stomach disorders. Although a laparoscopic or robotic approach is not appropriate for every person or every problem, I do think it should always be considered.

On a more personal note, I was born and raised in small-town Minnesota. Although I have traveled and lived other places I truly love living in Minnesota. I think my Minnesota upbringing makes me approachable and helps to put people at ease even when they are facing a difficult problem.

Personal

I enjoy all aspects of general surgery but I have a special interest in morbid obesity surgery (bariatric surgery). I understand that it is always stressful to have to go through an operation. It is my goal to make the experience as pleasant as possible. I accomplish this by helping patients to understand how and why we do operations. I will then use minimally invasive techniques (laparoscopy, small incisions) whenever appropriate, to reduce pain and speed recovery.
