My Areas of Practice
Obstetrics, gynecology and gynecologic surgery are my areas of practice.  I work primarily with women ages 18 to 55. I enjoy being a part of people getting established in their adult lives. It is an honor to be a part of the creation of their family especially being present for the birth of their children. I then see women through the their 40's, when the reproductive organs may misbehave and on through the transition to menopause.  Through my 25 plus years of practice I have continuously updated my surgical skills to include the advances in non-invasive surgery and office based procedures.

Personal

Dr. Torkelson grew on a farm in St. James, Minnesota and was active in 4-H. She attended college at Gustavus in St. Peter, Minnesota. Dr. Torkelson graduated from Mayo Medical School and completed her residency at the Mayo Graduate School of Medicine.

Dr. Torkelson chose Park Nicollet because she liked working in a multispecialty clinic setting. She worked at the Park Nicollet Clinic in Eagan from 1987 – 2003 and has been at the Park Nicollet Clinic in Shakopee from 2003 to present. Dr. Torkelson chose Obstetrics and Gynecology because she likes to make an impact at the beginning of life and enjoys being part of her patients’ hopes and dreams. “I have always been appreciated for being calm and patients find this reassuring.” Dr. Torkelson likes to take time to ensure her patients understand what is going on and why she is recommending what she is. Dr. Torkelson has an interest in gynecological surgeries, and infertility evaluation. Obstetrical care is her favorite.

When not at Park Nicollet, Dr. Torkelson enjoys traveling, photography, and cheering on her two stepsons who are active in athletics in Shakopee. She is an avid reader of mysteries and is crazy about her dogs.
