My Areas of Practice
I have worked in the area of eating disorders at Park Nicollet for nine years - first as a registered dietitian and currenty as a therapist. I have enjoyed the challenge of helping my clients find their way through and out of the mindset of disordered eating and into a life where eating is not fraught with so many rules around food and eating can be enjoyed! As a therapist, I will continue to work with clients to help them navigate their lives towards the life that they want to live – without the eating disorder. I enjoy working with all age groups. I feel honored to hear about another person’s life and help them through their challenges and triumphs. I have been intensively trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and enjoy teaching DBT skills groups. I am certified in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and work with clients that have trauma in their background which may contribute to the maintenance of the eating disorder. My background in Adlerian Therapy enables me to work in a collaborative manner with individuals and families to assess and challenge individual beliefs and family systems. The goals of therapy are for families and individuals to be more connected to others, to make effective decisions and live happier lives.
