Consulting staff

Jan Pearson, BAN, RN, CDE, senior consultant

Jan Pearson is a registered nurse and certified diabetes educator with more than 30 years of experience. She is a national leader in diabetes care and education, professional educator, consultant and international speaker. She has authored patient materials and peer-reviewed publications related to diabetes care and management.

Pearson is active in the American Association of Diabetes Educators (AADE), at the local and national levels, with a focus in legislative areas to improve the care of people with diabetes. She has served as president of Minneapolis/St. Paul Diabetes Educators, and is a member of AADE’s advocacy committee.

Trainers

Gregg Simonson, PhD

Gregg Simonson leads professional and industry educational programs at IDC and is adjunct assistant professor at the University of Minnesota Medical School. He is co-author of “Staged Diabetes Management®,” a member of American Diabetes Association and chairman of the Minnesota Department of Health Diabetes Steering Committee.

Robert Cuddihy, MD

Robert Cuddihy is medical director and chief of clinical research at IDC, which gives him active educational, clinical and research roles. He also is associate professor of medicine at the University of Minnesota Medical School. His prior experience includes roles at Massachusetts General Hospital Diabetes Center in Boston, and Mayo Clinic and Medical School in Rochester, Minnesota.

David Kendall, MD

David Kendall is medical director and chief of clinical and professional services at IDC, and clinical associate professor of medicine at the University of Minnesota Medical School. He oversees IDC clinical programs at Park Nicollet Clinic. Dr. Kendall serves as an investigator in a number of government-, foundation- and industry-sponsored trials.

Jill Flader, MS, RD, LD, CDE

Jill Flader is program manager for patient services at IDC. She is involved in adult patient education and training for health professionals. She also co-authored IDC’s best-selling “Type 2 Diabetes BASICS” curriculum.

Deb Schiesl, BSN, RN, CDE

Deb Schiesl is a diabetes nurse specialist at IDC who is involved in diabetes self-management for adults and gestational diabetes. She also is a faculty member for health professional programs and reviews our educational materials.

Sarah Borgman, BSN, RN, CDE

Sarah Borgman is a research coordinator at IDC who has worked on studies focusing on diabetes technologies, such as continuous glucose monitors and insulin pumps. She also has experience as a diabetes nurse educator in clinics and hospitals.

Mary Johnson, BS, RN, CDE

Mary Johnson is director of clinical research at IDC, where testing has occurred on almost every new diabetes medication and device on the market today. She has developed protocols and has served as project director on numerous research trials. Johnson has co-authored articles and abstracts in the specialty areas of hypertension, cardiology, nephrology and diabetes.

Courtney Rider, BSN, RN, CDE

Courtney Rider is a diabetes nurse specialist at IDC who provides individual and group diabetes self-management care for adults with type 1, type 2 and gestational diabetes. She is involved with the Advanced Insulin Management (AIM) program for patients who are interested in insulin pump therapy, and for those hoping to improve their current control.
