Treating gestational diabetes
Gestational diabetes treatment helps ensure that mother and child do well before, during and after delivery.
In addition to a food plan, some women with gestational diabetes take insulin injections. The diabetes pill "glyburide" also may be effective for some women. A recent study showed that glyburide does not cross the placenta to the baby, making this pill a safe alternative to insulin for some women with gestational diabetes.
