Developmental assets, developed by the Search Institute, are 40 concrete, common-sense, positive experiences and qualities essential to successful young people. This study will explore the 40 developmental assets, family characteristics and high-risk behaviors among patients struggling against eating disorders. We are recruiting 1,200 patients ages 12 to 18 (6th to 12th grade), and their family members in all levels of care at Melrose Institute. Participants will complete two surveys and consent to a chart review. This information will be shared with staff members to design family based treatments that serve to strengthen the number of developmental assets and lower the number of developmental deficits in patients.
This study aims to determine the factors associated with good outcome from an eating disorder. For this study, which builds on an existing outcomes study, 50 people who meet criteria for a "good" outcome will complete an interview focused on factors attributed to good outcome.
This study seeks to determine the effectiveness of partial hospital and inpatient programs at Eating Disorders Institute between one and 10 years after treatment. This study also seeks to determine variables associated with good, intermediate and poor outcomes from an eating disorder, and to evaluate the quality of life by outcome category.
