Self-assessment

Learn to love yourself*

  • When you look in the mirror, catch yourself before you say something negative. Instead, say something positive. It will feel better.
  • Keep a "Top 10" list of things you already like about yourself, on the outside and the inside. Add to your list often.
  • Eat when you are hungry. Rest when you are tired. Surround yourself with people and possessions that remind you of your inner strength and beauty.

Are you at risk for an eating disorder?*

Do you …
  • skip at least one meal a day?
  • count calories and fat grams every time you eat or drink?
  • constantly think about food, weight or body image?
  • label foods "good" and "bad"?
  • vomit after eating or use laxatives or diuretics to keep your weight down?
  • worry about what your last meal is doing to your body?
  • weigh yourself every day?
  • determine your mood for the entire day based on the number on your scale?
  • exercise because you have to, not because you want to?
  • exercise more than 45 minutes, five times each week with the goal of burning calories?
  • exercise to lose weight even if you are ill or injured?
