Family (parents, occasionally siblings) will be included in therapy sessions and are very involved. Our program uses evidence-based approaches, and research shows the family-based approach is the most effective in treating eating disorders in adolescents.
Evidence shows that the family-based approach is the most effective way to treat children and teens with eating disorders. You will need to be present for appointments with therapists, dietitians and the psychiatrist. You also will have the opportunity to join the cafeteria experiences and family meals.
Safety and security is a top priority. Park Nicollet Safety and Security works closely with our staff to ensure the safety of staff, patients and visitors. Security officers are on campus or touring the facilities weekdays and weekends. Officers are available to respond to all safety and security needs.
The main entrance is the only visitor access point and is monitored by cameras, as are most parking or foot traffic areas on the campus. The main entrance unlocks at 7 a.m. and locks at 8 p.m., Monday through Friday. On weekends and holidays the main entrance unlocks at 12 p.m. and locks at 8 p.m. The concierge desk, which is staffed when doors are unlocked, also monitors suspicious or uncooperative visitors.
Visitors are welcome to visit the family resource center, cafeteria, healing gardens and the George Haun Trail in the Bass Lake Park Preserve (the walking trail behind our building). The chapel also is open to visitors when unoccupied.
