Binge-eating levels 1-2

Our binge-eating disorder program is composed of two levels, and is led by mental health professionals and registered dietitians. Level 2 is optional and designed for those who need additional support and reinforcement of skills from Level 1.

Participants learn to manage stress, decrease episodes of binge eating, and help change their thinking about food, weight and self-esteem through what is called cognitive behavioral therapy. Cognitive behavioral therapy combines two powerful tools – therapy that addresses how people think with how they react – to stop symptoms and get lives back on track.

Our program is structured into two phases.

  • Level 1: Weekly, three-hour sessions for 12 weeks
    • Cover components of normal eating, food beliefs, eating habits and coping skills to help change binge-eating behaviors
    • Work on ways to balance physical and emotional well-being
    • Incorporate relaxation exercises
  • Level 2: Weekly, three-hour sessions for eight weeks
    • Build on skills learned in Level 1
    • Incorporate body-movement awareness activities
    • Discuss body image, self-esteem, assertiveness, impulse control, stress management and relapse prevention

Relapse prevention group

We also offer optional weekly, hour-long groups for those who have completed Level I or Level 2 and want weekly, ongoing support.

Individual appointments also are available.
