Glaucoma is a group of related eye diseases that includes chronic or primary open-angle glaucoma, acute closed-angle glaucoma and other variations such as congenital glaucoma, pigmentary glaucoma and secondary glaucoma. This eye disease is the second-leading cause of blindness in the United States. Only half of the nearly three million people affected by glaucoma know they have it.
