‘No Shots, No School’
Community health commitment
Minnesota law requires immunizations, or written proof of exemption, for school-age children to attend school. Park Nicollet Foundation, through its Healthy Communities Initiative, is collaborating with 22 school districts to meet these requirements to have all children immunized. Park Nicollet Clinic, along with other providers, allows "enhanced access" for children needing immunizations as part of the No Shots, No School program. This program is available May, August and the first two weeks of September.
Participating school districts communicate the law to all parents in their district and encourage them to schedule appointments with a primary care doctor early to ensure required immunizations are given and documented well in advance of starting school. It takes at least four months to complete the Hepatitis B series.

As part of the No Shots, No School program, Park Nicollet Clinic locations, All About Children Pediatrics, Columbia Park Medical Group, Southdale Pediatrics and South Lake Pediatrics have agreed to the following:
- provide immunization-only visits on a same-day appointment basis
- immunize children without a doctor visit or preventive care exam at the time of immunization
- immunize children not previously established as patients with the clinic
- provide immunizations to children with no direct charge to families
2008 - 2009 participating providers by county
Local county and city public health clinics also provide immunization services. Those clinics are unable to provide free vaccine to students who have health insurance.
