Park Nicollet Institute receives $1 millon grant from CDCThe Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) awarded Park Nicollet Institute $1 million for the next three years for “Weight Loss and Activity in Rheumatoid and Osteoarthritis. Through this grant, the Institute will implement well-developed guidelines for arthritis management beyond acute medical management. The guidelines will deal with the characteristic joint inflammation, pain and degeneration of arthritis that can lead to compromised physical activity and weight gain that can increase the functional dependency and social isolation of those diagnoses. Principal investigator Barb Braun, PhD, Health Research Center, is leading this project, working with team members Lisa Harvey, RD, Health Education Center; David Parker, MD, Park Nicollet Clinic and James Toscano, Park Nicollet Institute. |
