Foreign Object in the Eye

A foreign object in your eye should be taken seriously. If you feel something in your eye, don’t rub it. Rubbing can damage the cornea (the clear tissue covering the colored part of the eye).

Stinging irritants in the eye, such as soap, spice, perfume, or aftershave (flush eye for 5 minutes) Symptoms can usually be treated at home. If symptoms persist, you should call your doctor for advice.
Object on white part of the eye that can be removed Symptoms can usually be treated at home. If symptoms persist, you should call your doctor for advice. 
Eye pain, discomfort, constant tearing, or increasing redness after removal of foreign object Symptoms need to be evaluated by a doctor. When you call to make an appointment, your doctor will help you determine how soon you need to be seen.

Severe eye pain or impaired vision Symptoms in this category are life threatening and require immediate medical treatment.
