What to do About Dizziness
Occasional lightheadedness or dizziness when first standing or getting out of bed Symptoms can usually be treated at home. If symptoms persist, you should call your doctor for advice.
Vertigo (room seems to be spinning) that lasts for more than 3 days Symptoms need to be evaluated by a doctor. When you call to make an appointment, your doctor will help you determine how soon you need to be seen. 
Vertigo (room seems to be spinning) with nausea and vomiting Symptoms need to be evaluated by a doctor. When you call to make an appointment, your doctor will help you determine how soon you need to be seen. 
Dizziness with fever, hearing loss, ringing ears, or ear pain Symptoms need to be evaluated by a doctor. When you call to make an appointment, your doctor will help you determine how soon you need to be seen.
Dizziness with head injury or severe headache Symptoms in this category are serious and should usually be seen within 2 hours. Depending on your health insurance, you may choose to call your doctor to determine if you should be seen in the doctor’s office, in an urgent care center, or in an emergency room.
Dizziness with numbness or weakness of arms or legs or loss of control of bowels or bladder Symptoms in this category are life threatening and require immediate medical treatment.
Dizziness with blurred or double vision, loss of hearing, or slurred speech Symptoms in this category are life threatening and require immediate medical treatment.
Dizziness with symptoms of shock (rapid pulse; rapid, shallow respirations; cool, clammy, pale skin) Symptoms in this category are life threatening and require immediate medical treatment.
