Complementary and Alternative Medicine

Complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) is a group of medical and health care practices that are not considered to be part of conventional medicine. Conventional medicine is a term for established and accepted methods practiced by medical doctors (MDs). Complementary and alternative practices are not part of conventional medicine because for the most part there are still questions about their safety and effectiveness. Complementary medicine is used together with conventional medicine. Alternative medicine is used in place of conventional medicine.
