Thinking and memory assessment
Many people with Parkinson’s experience a decline in thinking and memory as the disease progresses. These changes can impact safety, independence and quality of life, as well as family relationships, and may require role changes for family members.
A thinking and memory changes assessment is available for patients who have trouble remembering or thinking clearly. Center staff assesses mental changes; develops a plan to improve safety and functioning; and helps patients and families deal with the emotional impact of these changes.
The assessment is three-and-a-half to four hours long, and involves:
-
social services
-
speech pathology
-
occupational therapy
-
nurse clinician
