At the hospital

What should I bring to the hospital?

What every expecting mother brings to the hospital when having her baby can vary; however, our delivery-day checklist can help with your packing decisions.

Will I have a roommate?

No. The Family Birth Center offers 19 private and fully equipped labor, delivery and recovery suites designed for optimal patient comfort, security and privacy.

Can the hospital accommodate special diet needs?

Yes. Vegetarian, kosher and other special meal selections are available for patients. Ask your nurse to make arrangements.

Who can visit me in the hospital and delivery room?

  • Dads and partners are welcome to stay the entire time in the hospital.
  • Immediate family members are welcome any time.
  • Other friends and relatives may visit at the patients’ request.
  • Brothers and sisters of the newborn are the only children allowed in the maternity unit.

More information on visitors is provided in the visiting guidelines.

Are cameras and video cameras allowed?

Yes, cameras and video cameras are allowed, but see the videotaping guidelines for information on when they are OK to use.
