Special Care Nursery

Our Special Care Nursery is designed to provide care for babies born early or who need extra care.

Our specially trained nurses provide round-the-clock care within steps of your hospital room. They are committed to providing a nurturing, calm environment for your baby.

Babies born early or in need of extra care may be unable to protect themselves from activity around them. Too much activity may cause breathing problems, sleeping problems, irritability and poor weight gain. Staff reduces the stress of bright lights and noise, and instructs family members and visitors on special care.

Park Nicollet Intermediate Care NurseryYou are encouraged to visit the nursery if your baby’s condition does not permit him or her to be brought to your room. You will be kept informed of your baby’s condition. We encourage you to participate in the baby’s care as soon as possible.

Parent rooms are located in the Special Care Nursery for spending the night before your baby is discharged. During this stay, mothers, fathers and other partners are offered discounted parking rates.
