When to call your care provider
Discomfort after delivery is normal; however, certain symptoms may indicate a serious health concern. Call your health provider if you have any of the following symptoms.
- Fever higher than 100.4 F
- Nausea and vomiting
- Pain or burning during urination
- Bleeding that increases or is heavier than a normal menstrual period
- Blood clots that appear after the first few days postpartum
- Severe pain in your lower abdomen
- Pain, swelling or tenderness in your legs
- Chest pain and cough
- Red streaks or painful new lumps in your breasts
- Redness or discharge from an episiotomy, tear or incision
- Foul-smelling vaginal discharge
