Creative expression
Studies show that creativity is an important part of maintaining quality of life. Many people think of the term “creative expression” as only participating in traditional art activities, but it is a natural quality we all have and use every day.
People with Parkinson’s and their care partners can experience a variety of benefits from participating in creative activities, including:
-
increased awareness and sensory stimulation
-
stress reduction, relaxation and energy renewal
-
maintained or improved fine motor skills
-
movement and exercise
-
reduced awareness of Parkinson’s symptoms when engaged in enjoyable activities
-
joy in exploring new materials and projects
-
health and wellness promotion – improving the “mind-body-spirit” connection
