Children can start seeing a pediatrician as soon as they are born. Park Nicollet offers 40 pediatricians in 11 Park Nicollet Clinic locations. These doctors are able to provide immunizations, well-child examinations, care for chronic and acute conditions, among other areas.
We recommend adolescent girls have annual pelvic examinations once they are either sexually active or age 18 (if they are not sexually active). These examinations can be done by either their pediatrician or by an Ob/Gyn doctor.
We are at Methodist Hospital, 6500 Excelsior Blvd., St. Louis Park. When you come to the hospital, you can park in the Orange Lot behind Methodist Hospital near the Meadowbrook Building.
Park Nicollet has seven Urgent Care locations. Hours are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Park Nicollet Clinic—St. Louis Park also is open holidays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Park Nicollet has pediatric specialists on staff to help when children come to the Methodist Hospital Emergency Center. The hospital also offers the additional services of four Children’s Hospitals and Clinics pediatricians who care for hospitalized children from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m., seven days a week, in the hospital. These pediatricians are specially trained to care for hospital patients, and are able to provide care for children admitted evenings and weekends to Methodist Hospital.
Our child-life specialist helps parents and their children feel prepared and comfortable before and during their visit. The specialist explains what is happening, answers any questions and uses language children will understand. Activities, such as art and medical play, also are used to help relieve uneasy feelings about tests or procedures.
If a child is scheduled to stay in the hospital for one or more days, we can make arrangements so parents can stay in the room with them. You can talk with one of the nurses in the Children and Young Adults Unit or our child-life specialist.
