Restylane
Restylane provides safe, instant and long-lasting wrinkle correction. Restylane restores volume and fullness to the skin by correcting moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds. Treatments last an average of eight months or longer, twice as long as collagen treatments.
Are you a candidate?
Ideal candidates for Restylane are those who:
-
are age 18 and older
-
are in good health
-
have facial wrinkles
-
want to improve their appearance and have realistic expectations about results
Complications, risks
Some risks are associated with any procedure. Be sure to follow your surgeon's advice and instructions to help minimize any risks or complications.
Potential risks are:
-
temporary redness, swelling at injection site (gets better in two days to three days)
-
facial cold sores (if you are prone to getting them)
-
bruising or bleeding (risk increased by use of aspirin, anti-inflammatory medications, St. John’s Wort and high doses of vitamin E)
Preparing for treatment
Avoid St. John’s Wort and high doses of vitamin E one week before treatment. Other guidelines.
During treatment
An ultrafine needle is used to inject tiny amounts of Restylane into the skin. The procedure is short and causes minimal discomfort. Anesthesia rarely is needed, but sedatives and numbing agents may be used.
After treatment
Results will be noticeable instantly. Any swelling or redness will fade in two days to three days. The average Restylane treatment lasts six months or more.
Recovery
You can return to work or home immediately following the procedure. The cosmetic effect will remain until the injection is gone, typically after six months. Touch-up treatments before the product is dissolved can enhance and lengthen the effect.
After this procedure, minimize exposure to sun, ultraviolet (UV) lamps and extreme cold weather until initial swelling and redness is gone.
