Preparing for treatment

Avoid the sun four weeks to six weeks before treatment. Do not have electrolysis or pluck or wax your hair for six weeks before treatment. If you have a dark skin type, a bleaching cream can be started four weeks to six weeks before treatment for better results. Other guidelines.

During treatment

GentleLASE passes a gentle beam of light through the skin to the hair follicle, where it is absorbed by the hair. The laser energy then is transformed into heat, which disables the follicle, preventing hair growth. A cooling mist cools the upper layers of skin in treated areas.

Typically, four to five treatments are needed to permanently remove hair. More may be needed depending on skin tone, coarseness of hair and hair color.

After treatment

Patients may experience redness in the treated area. This redness fades within a few minutes to a few hours and, in rare cases, a few days. Cold packs can speed up this process.

Recovery

You can return to work or home immediately following the procedure. Avoid the sun four weeks to six weeks after treatment.
