Breast lift

As skin loses elasticity a woman's breasts may lose shape and firmness. If you are experiencing this, you may want to consider a breast lift, or mastopexy, a surgical procedure to raise and reshape sagging breasts.

Are you a candidate?

If you are healthy and emotionally stable with reasonable expectations about what this surgery can do for you, you may be a good candidate for a breast lift. Best results are achieved in women with sagging or pendulous (hanging, flat and elongated) breasts that are proportional to the rest of the body; or women with breasts that have lost firmness and elasticity or have stretched skin and enlarged areolas (colored rings around the nipples).

Complications, risks

Some risk is associated with any surgery. Follow your surgeon's advice before and after surgery to avoid noticeable, permanent scars (scars are covered by bra or bathing suit).

Your consultation

The surgeon will examine and measure your breasts, discuss variables (age, breast size and shape, skin condition) and discuss where the nipple and areola will be positioned, as they will be moved higher during surgery. More about consultations.
