Course objectives

In order to respond to cardiovascular emergencies, physicians and other health professionals need to have up-to-date skills that go beyond basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation to include advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) techniques. According to a recent article in Resuscitation journal, “The presence of at least one ACLS-trained team member at in-hospital resuscitation efforts increases both short- and long-term survival following cardiac arrest.”1 Some physicians are required to be current on ACLS certification and others request ACLS certification.

(1 Moretti MA, et al. “Advanced cardiac life support training improves long-term survival from in-hospital cardiac arrest.” Resuscitation. 2007 Mar.; 72(3):458-65.)

This video- and discussion-based course teaches the guidelines of the American Heart Association (AHA), Minnesota Affiliate. The AHA has long been recognized as a premier source
