First few weeks

Schedule a follow-up appointment with your doctor or certified nurse-midwife (for four weeks to six weeks after delivery).

Schedule help the first few days at home if possible. Concentrate on caring for your baby and yourself. Have others do housework, cooking and laundry.

Call the Breastfeeding Center @ Park Nicollet at 952-993-5124 with any infant feeding questions or concerns.

Call your doctor or certified nurse-midwife with any questions.

Call Park Nicollet Methodist Hospital Home Care at 952-993-6087 if you feel you need telephone or in-person support as you learn to care for your new baby.

Schedule a two-month wellness exam for your baby.

If you are experiencing strong feelings of sadness, anxiety or despair, call your doctor right away. You could be experiencing postpartum depression.

The Breastfeeding Center features helpful products for prepregnancy and postpregnancy, including support pillows and cushions, breast pumps, educational books, maternity bras and other breastfeeding products.
