Your visit

Park Nicollet Refractive Surgery uses a four-step process that takes you through every part of your vision correction experience.

Steps Appt. time Visit includes:

Complimentary screening

1 1/2 hours
  • information session
  • diagnostic testing
  • visual acuity  check
  • pupil size measurement (in light and dark)
  • corneal surface and thickness mapping
  • wavescan 
Consultation with your surgeon
1 1/2 hours
  • visual acuity and refraction measurements
  • glaucoma check
  • pupil dilation
  • retinal examination
  • wavescan
The date of your consultation depends on the date you discontinue contact lens use (if applicable). Your pupils will be dilated during the consultation. Bring sunglasses and arrange for transportation if you have concerns about driving.
Procedure day
1 1/2 hours
  • Arrive one hour before surgery
  • A member of the refractive surgery team will describe what will happen, have you sign a consent form and administer eye drops
  • Your blood pressure will be taken, and you will be given oral medication to help you relax
  • After the procedure, a friend or family member will need to drive you home
Postoperative appointments
15 to 45 minutes

We recommend you have someone drive you to your first postoperative visit. Your surgeon will determine your follow-up appointment schedule for up to one year after surgery.
