Vision rehabilitation

	Dynavision tests eye-hand coordination, reaction time, peripheral vision and tracking skills.

Occupational therapy offers rehabilitation for patients with visual loss. These impairments can impact patients' safety and independence. Vision loss affects include reading, writing, medication management, driving, productive employment, safe and independent kitchen skills, functional and safe mobility, recreational activities and more. Common diagnoses include brain injury or tumors, glaucoma, cataracts, stroke, macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy.

Treatment options

• Compensatory skills (ways to accommodate) for vision loss or impairment
• Safety and independence training in activities of daily living and functional mobility

Frequency and duration of treatment will vary based on patients’ diagnoses and functional impairment.

Specialty equipment

• Dynavision. A computerized light board that tests and reinforces eye-hand coordination, reaction time with and without distractions, attention to peripheral vision and tracking. Dynavision is a useful tool for predriving assessments.
• Visual perimeter. Assesses peripheral fields and perception of light intensity. It is used to aid in educating about and treating for such difficulties.
• Campimeter. A portable evaluation tool that measures patients’ field of vision.
