My volunteering experience has been one of joy and gratification. It has created growth opportunities for me by enabling me to make new friends, learn the complex workings of a hospital and relate to people – both sick and well. Most important, volunteering created a new assessment of my personal self. Yes, volunteering requires a commitment, but it is a small price to pay for opening a world of benefits to you.

Being a volunteer is one of the most self-satisfying things I have ever done. I consider it a privilege to be a Park Nicollet volunteer.

I love helping out the hospital and making it more organized, smoother and more helpful for visitors. I love being a part of the hospital atmosphere where people are so friendly.

The most memorable moment I've had while volunteering at Methodist Hospital is when I served as a translator between a nurse and a Spanish-speaking patient. It was an amazing feeling to be able to apply the knowledge I gained at school in a real-life situation, especially since my skills were used to care for a person in need. I could tell the woman was so grateful to have a person who could talk to her in her native language (even if it was a little stumbled) and take her mind off of the present situation.
