I am thrilled to be providing therapeutic services at Melrose Center. The therapeutic relationship is so important in the process of helping patients to create change.  I am always honored to become a part of a patient's story and therapeutic journey to healing.  I work collaboratively with patients to help them find peace, balance, and acceptance in their lives. I enjoy working as part of a multidisciplinary team to help patients make improvements in their standard of living by shedding light on their hidden strengths and opportunities. I utilize evidenced-based treatment approaches in my therapy practice which include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Family Based Treatment.

Other areas of interest include nutrition, body image, women's health, perfectionism, developmental life stage transitions, parenting, mindfulness, and chemical dependency.  I have a particular passion for helping empower women to create balance between the duties of parenthood and being a working professional. I enjoy working with families, couples, adolescents, children, and adults.

Prior to practicing at Melrose Center, the treatment of eating disorders was my primary focus.  Other past practicum and work experience also included supervised parenting visitation, treatment of sexual abuse victims and offenders, clinical focus with patients with Severe and Persistent Mental Illness,  and in-home family therapy.

Areas of Practice

I am a passionate and committed licensed independent clinical social worker who has been working in the Mental Health and Social Work field for over 14 years.  For the past 5 years I have focused my practice on the treatment of eating disorders. My areas of interest include working with adolescents and young adults and providing evidence based treatments for those suffering with Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, and Other (Un)Specified Eating Disorders.

My counseling style is warm, compassionate, and interactive. I am sensitive to others, respectful, and empathic. My treatment approach is focused on providing evidence-based therapies which research has shown to be very effective. These are cognitive behaviorally based in theory and are engaging, helpful, and well-liked by clients. I tailor the treatment to best suit my clients' needs. My most utilized therapeutic models are Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Cognitive Behavior Therapy- Enhanced for Eating Disorders (CBT-E), Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), the Unified Protocol for Emotional Disorders (UP), and Mindfulness techniques. I have a background in psychodynamic theory as well and continue to find this useful in better understanding my clients and forming effective therapeutic relationships.

While therapy can be enjoyable and rewarding, it is also a lot of work. If you are ready to embark on this journey, I would be honored to help you find joy, peace, and balance in your life.

I have been working with adults, adolescents and families affected by eating disorders since 2012.  As a systemically trained therapist, I believe that families are one of the greatest assets during recovery from an eating disorder.  I enjoy helping clients reconnect to the things that brought them joy before the eating disorder.  My therapeutic approach is eclectic and I utilize a variety of modalities including FBT, CBT and solution-focused techniques.

I believe it takes a great deal of courage and bravery to seek therapy, and I feel honored that others allow me to be a part of this journey. In my eyes, the relationship between client and therapist is one of the most important aspects of therapy, and likely the main reason people make progress. Each of us has many different pieces that explain and influence who we are. I see my role as a therapist is to put these pieces together in a way that is meaningful and helpful to my client.

My areas of practice include eating disorders, depression, anxiety, trauma/abuse, PTSD, Borderline Personality Disorder, self-harm behaviors, and suicidal thoughts/behaviors. I work with clients age 18 and older, via individual therapy as well as family and couples therapy. I provide a safe space for individuals who identify as LGBTQ and I welcome clients who are looking for a Christian therapist.
