Caring for our community

Methodist Hospital opened its doors in 1959 with 276 beds. As the 20th century drew to a close, the hospital merged with Park Nicollet Clinic, and the newly named Park Nicollet Foundation expanded its mission to serve community health needs. Today the hospital has grown to 426 beds and admits more than 30,000 patients annually, but the foundation’s mission of partnering to build healthy lives is still the heart of our work.

We continually strive to enhance the patient and family experience, promote innovation and research and respond to the health care needs of our community. Together with Park Nicollet, we work with schools, nonprofits, community agencies and local governments to develop innovative solutions to complex community health issues - all with the support of generous and compassionate donors.

We continually strive to enhance the patient and family experience, promote innovation and research and respond to the health care needs of our community.

As part of the Affordable Care Act, non-profit hospitals complete a Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA) every three years. Hospitals collect input from the community, adopt a plan to address community needs and then report on these activities.

In 2021, we were part of a comprehensive CHNA process that included all the hospitals in the HealthPartners system. In consult with The Health Partners Institute, the assessment analyzed health data and input from community members to identify the most pressing health needs.

Those top needs are:

  • Mental health and well-being
  • Access to health
  • Access to care
  • Nutrition and physical activity
  • Substance use

View the details of our current CHNA at the link below. Our Implementation Plan for addressing these needs over the next few years will be completed and posted here by mid May, 2022.
