Personal and Professional Growth in Ministry

Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) at Park Nicollet Clinic and Park Nicollet Methodist Hospital provides spiritual and clinical education that equips students to become deeply and uniquely effective in their ministry. Please contact Park Nicollet Spiritual Care or Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) supervisor for current programs. Not all units are offered on a regular basis.

Summer Internship - Level I CPE

Park Nicollet Methodist Hospital will not be offering a summer 2019 CPE internship

This is a 400-hour, full-time ministry training experience. It runs for 11 weeks and includes a variety of clinical experiences and emergency on-call coverage. We welcome applications from seminary students, members of religious orders, clergy, and lay people commissioned by a religious community.

Year Long Residency - Level I and Level II CPE

Park Nicollet offers a full-time, year-long, three-unit residency that begins at the end of August and runs through the following August. This program is led by Bonnie Forsman ACPE Certified Educator and CPE Program Manager.

Park Nicollet’s CPE program cultivates an expanding awareness of self, others, and the Divine, in order for students to more effectively provide transformative ministry. A contemplative approach to education encourages authentic expression of emotional and affective experience, compassionate and generative listening and speaking, and bold engagement around the suffering and healing of others.

Clinical Areas

Methodist Hospital offers a variety of clinical setting assignments for chaplain residents including Intensive Care, Cardiac Advance Care, Orthopedic, Neurology, Family Birth Center, and General Medical Surgical Floors. We have specialized residency positions in Palliative Care and Hospice. And, in combination with assignments in the hospital we offer offsite placements at Melrose Center for eating disorders and Struthers Parkinson’s Center.
