We’re no longer offering chiropractic services

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we haven’t been able to offer chiropractic services to our patients since March. We’ve now made the difficult decision to permanently stop providing chiropractic services.

We value the relationship our chiropractors built with our patients. And as our chiropractors move their practices, we’ll reach out and share that information with you.

As always, your health and well-being is our top priority. We still offer other care options for your spine including our medical spine specialists, physical therapy and our Physicians Neck & Back Centers.

If you’d prefer to continue with chiropractic care, there are many high-quality clinics in the area. Patients with HealthPartners insurance can call the number on their back of the card, and we’ll help you find a new option. If you have a different health insurance provider, contact your member services team for help.

It’s not unusual to have occasional back pain or neck pain that goes away without treatment. But sometimes, pain due to an injury, repetitive action or some other cause just seems to last. Through targeted adjustments to your body, modifications to your everyday routines and other expert treatments, chiropractic care can help you find relief – beginning at your very first appointment.

Chiropractors work with you to find the best ways to feel better without surgery or medication. You’ll only get the evidence-based, cost-effective treatments and advice that are right for you. That way, you can get back to work, daily activities and your favorite hobbies sooner – and with less pain.

Is chiropractic care right for me?

If back pain, neck pain, joint pain, nerve pain or muscle pain makes it hard to work, get through your daily routines or do what you enjoy, it may be time to see a chiropractor.

Chiropractors treat problems affecting your bones, muscles, nerves and joints by adjusting your body, with a focus on the spine. They use their hands or small, specialized instruments to apply safe, controlled force to joints. These chiropractic adjustments help correct dysfunctions in your body’s structure, promote pain relief and boost your ability to heal. Chiropractors can also offer personalized insights and education on how you can work and play more safely, helping you independently manage and reduce pain in your day-to-day life.

Common conditions our chiropractors help manage

Chiropractic care offers a safe way to help alleviate pain and restore function – without the need for surgery or prescription painkillers. Chiropractors typically treat the following musculoskeletal conditions:

Back pain

Chiropractors have decades of experience in addressing the root causes of back pain. We can help increase your spine’s mobility and flexibility through adjustments to your joints and vertebrae. They also work to reduce back pain by improving muscle function and teaching you independent care techniques.

Neck pain

Neck pain can signal problems at the top of your spine and the surrounding muscles. It can be caused by pinched nerves, trauma from an accident or poor posture. A chiropractor can aid in the healing process through treatments that increase range of motion and loosen tension in the neck and spine.

Recurring headaches

Frequent headaches often indicate muscle tension and joint irritation in the neck and upper back. Chiropractic soft tissue massage and spinal adjustments can help correct these underlying issues.

Sports injuries

Sports injuries include things like tendonitis and sprains. Chiropractic treatment can help reduce inflammation, enhance joint function and relieve pain, leading to quicker recovery time.

Other conditions chiropractic care can help with

  • Arthritis pain
  • Bursitis
  • Carpal tunnel syndrome
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Herniated discs
  • Pain in the arms or legs
  • Plantar fasciitis
  • Pregnancy pain
  • Radial tunnel syndrome
  • Repetitive strain injuries (RSIs)
  • Rotator cuff syndrome
  • Sciatica
  • Spinal stenosis
  • Work injuries

Chiropractic treatment options

Whether you’ve already tried other ways of finding pain relief, or you’re just beginning to look for solutions, chiropractors only use the right treatments for your unique needs. Chiropractors typically offer:

Manual adjustments

In a manual chiropractic adjustment, your chiropractor will use their hands to apply controlled force to a joint in your body. Adjustments can involve any joint, but they’re most commonly applied to the spine. Chiropractic manipulations help improve the joint’s range of motion, relieve nerve pain, reduce inflammation and enhance the joint’s overall function.

Before an adjustment, your chiropractor may use heat, ice, a gentle electric current or ultrasound to help relax your muscles. After an adjustment, you’ll typically feel an immediate sense of relief, though it’s also normal to feel slight soreness for a couple days as your body adapts to its improved function.

Activator method

Sometimes chiropractors use a small hand-held instrument called an activator to help them make adjustments. The activator allows your chiropractor to make adjustments quicker and with more precision when working on smaller or more delicate areas of the body.

Exercise rehabilitation

After range of motion in the affected area has improved, your chiropractor may introduce exercise into your treatment plan. Strengthening muscles and conditioning joints can help you heal faster and prevent future injury. The exercises your chiropractor teaches you will help build flexibility and endurance, and we’ll show you how to complete many exercises at home. They may recommend working with physical therapists, occupational therapists or other specialists for further rehabilitation care that fits together with your chiropractic treatment.

Soft tissue therapy

Muscles can often be a source of pain, so chiropractors frequently use additional soft tissue therapies to help reduce muscle tension, improve range of motion and help you find pain relief.

Trigger point therapy

Trigger points can develop when muscles are overused, sore or inflamed. Commonly called knots, these are particularly sensitive areas in your muscles that trigger pain when activated. During trigger point therapy, your chiropractor will identify these tender trigger points and help eliminate them. This results in a looser, more flexible muscle that’s also less painful to use.

Kinesiology taping

Kinesiology tape is a flexible adhesive applied to your body. Many patients find the tape lessens pain and supports their muscles and joints during physical activity and injury recovery. Chiropractors use kinesiology tape for lower back pain and more.

Assisted stretching

During assisted stretching, your chiropractor will help you safely stretch your muscles more fully than you’re able to on your own. Along with increasing flexibility and mobility, assisted stretching also causes your muscles to more completely relax. As a result, muscle stiffness decreases, and so does pain.

Instrument-assisted soft tissue therapy

Also known as the Graston Technique, instrument-assisted soft tissue therapy is when your chiropractor uses specially designed instruments to help reduce muscle tension in concentrated areas. Sometimes, the places causing pain might be small or specific. Instrument-assisted therapy helps your chiropractor more precisely reduce inflammation and improve flexibility, which allows for better healing.

Therapeutic techniques

Chiropractors may also use additional healing physical treatment methods to reduce pain and improve function across your musculoskeletal system.

Muscle stimulation therapy

Muscle stimulation therapy can help decrease muscle spasms and relieve pain in affected areas. Your chiropractor will attach electrodes to your skin that create soft, targeted electrical impulses. The electrical impulses stimulate weak or damaged muscles, relieving discomfort caused by inflammation or injuries. Muscle stimulation creates a tingling sensation but doesn’t hurt.

Therapeutic ultrasound

Therapeutic ultrasound is a chiropractic treatment that can help loosen muscles and prevent spasms. Your chiropractor will focus high frequency soundwaves toward areas where you’re feeling sore, creating gentle vibrations and generating deep heat. The vibrations and heat help reduce muscle tension and promote healing. During treatment, you may experience a small tingling or warming sensation, but these sensations are painless.

Ergonomic activity coaching

Performing tasks at work or at home in certain ways can put strain on your body, resulting in neck pain, back pain, headaches and other health problems. Ergonomics focuses on how to do activities like sitting, standing, typing, bending, lifting and relaxing in ways that better support how your body is meant to move.

Based on your work and daily routines, your chiropractor will share specific techniques for staying healthy and avoiding injury. They’ll also discuss how to set up your home or office so that you’re more comfortable and feel less pain, including how to best manage the time you spend with computers, phones, tablets, TVs and other devices.

Specially tailored treatments

Chiropractors modify the treatments they use to match your needs, preferences and special considerations. By working closely with you to understand your health, chiropractors are able to ensure that the care you receive is safe and effective. They commonly modify treatments for elderly patients, young patients and pregnant patients, but they always customize your care based on your personal situation and your goals.
